Dining in Maine can be a unique experience.  Here are some of the places that we have really come to enjoy.  Some of these are high class and some are not, but they all have wonderful food with a wonderful dining atmosphere.  It is also recommended if you see cooked lobsters and corn for sale on the side of the road, STOP.  That will be worth its weight in gold, I promise.
Five Islands  (approx. 6 miles from The Topsider)
  • Five Islands Lobster Co. & Grill - Nothing like overlooking the harbor while enjoying a nice lobster roll.  As the locals say though, try not to get the table by the bait shed door.
  • Lisa's Lunch - No web site for Lisa's, but it is a locally owned and operated eatery just off the beaten path in Five Islands.  Follow the signs and you will be well rewarded.
Robinhood  (approx. 8 miles from The Topsider)
  • The Osprey Restaurant - Very nice restaurant over looking the Robinhood Harbor and the community.  The view is spectaular and the food is even better.
  • The Robinhood Free Meetinghouse - Five-star dining in a casual, relaxed atmosphere in scenic Georgetown, Maine. Chef Michael Gagné is regionally renowned for fresh, fusion, classic, and innovative signature dishes.
Bath  (approx. 14 miles from The Topsider)
  • J. R. Maxwell's & Co. - This is without a doubt our favorite restaurant in Bath.  Has the feel of an old shipbuilding town, with The Boat Builder's Pub located downstairs.
  • The Front Street Deli - Located on Front Street, they have some of the best lunch in town.  We recommend the homemade crossaints.
  • Beale Street Barbeque & Grill - If you are looking for a little taste of the south all the way up north, this is the place.  Memphis never seemed any closer.
  • The Cabin - Unfortunatly The Cabin does not have a website, but that doesn't stop them from having the best pizza around.  Located on Washington Street across from BIW.
Popham Beach  (approx. 30 miles from The Topsider)
  • Spinney's Restaurant - Unfortunatley, Spinney's is only 1 mile across the Kennebec River from The Topsider, but by vehicle it will be nearly 30 miles. Well worth the drive.  Great food and a fantastic view.
Brunswick  (approx. 23 miles from The Topsider heading south)
  • Sam's Italian Sandwich Shoppe - Located in the Cook's Corner section of Brunswick, they have the best Italian Sandwiches around.
  • Fat Boy's - Ever want to get back into the old style drive-in's and eat in your car.  This is the best place for that.  Name the type of basket you would like and enjoy.
Bailey's Island  (approx. 36 miles from The Topsider heading south)
  • Cook's Lobster House - As seen in the Visa commercial and the Honda commerical, it is well worth the drive.  You will not be disappointed.  Great view as well.
Woolwich  (approx. 14 miles from The Topsider heading north)
  • The Taste of Maine - Get yourself a taste of some wonderful seafood with a nice view as well.  As the Mainer's say, it is located on "Route 1 Woolwich, just north of Bath."
Wiscasset  (approx 22 miles from The Topsider heading north)
  • Red's Eats - Located right at the bottom of the hill in downtown Wiscasset and right before crossing the bridge you will see Red's Eats on the left.  Quick food and fun atmosphere.
Boothbay Harbor  (approx 35 miles from The Topsider heading north)
  • Gray's Wharf - Right on the water in Boothbay Harbor open for both lunch and dinner.  A very casual atomsphere with some of the best food in the state.
Waldoboro  (approx 40 miles from The Topsider heading north)
  • Moody's Diner - A real Mainer's restaurant.  See how the "natives" enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner with the humor to go along with it.
